Environmental Services

Society's efforts to keep up with the ever growing and changing world often results in the pillaging and plundering of our environment and natural resources. Llewellyn's Construction understands the importance of saving our environment and natural resources. Environmentally friendly land clearing may sound like a contradiction of philosophies but Llewellyn's Construction stands alone in our commitment to balancing progress and environmental protection. John knows that he must take a "hands on" approach in protecting these resources today or be out of work tomorrow. With this knowledge as a motivating factor, every project is evaluated prior to starting any demolition work. Every effort is made to maximize the projects potential value while minimizing the impact to OUR environment. Our competitors may be subscribe to the "out with the old and in with the new" mentality but, at Llewellyn's Construction, we know there are hidden values in the least likely of places. It is our mission to literally unearth these treasures and offer a GREEN alternative that ultimately benefits us all. Ironically, this distinction makes our competition GREEN with envy.

Demolition/Waste Separation & Removal

601Experience dictates that no two demolition projects are the same. At first glance, it may look like just a building or two that need to be removed. In actuality, the demolition work may only begin with the above ground structure(s). Often times there are underground issues and hidden hazards that can go unnoticed to an untrained eye. Toxic waste, asbestos and lead base products are examples of environmental hazards that must be removed by a trained professional as required by such governmental agencies as TAHPR (Texas Asbestos Health Protection Rules regulations). At Llewellyn's Construction, it is our commitment to our customers, the community and the environment, to identify and then properly remove any hazardous materials found on the project site. The safety of our employees and customers depends on our strict adherence to these regulations and this commitment is validated year after year, with our impeccable safety record. Llewellyn's Construction emphasizes the importance of developing and maintaining a professional and positive alliance with any and all Federal, State and Local regulatory offices associated with a demolition project. Llewellyn's Construction also participates and processes all documentations required for LEED –certified projects.

Hurricane/Natural Disaster Cleanup

tree removal from roof during Ike 459From the dry desert conditions found in west Texas to the sultry gulf coast beaches which line our southern border, Texas has a perfect climate and location setting for everyone. This is one, of many reasons, why thousands migrate to Texas every year. Unfortunately, this diversity in terrain also brings an over abundance of varying weather conditions, some of which can devastate an entire community without much warning.

Hurricane Ike Hit Home

John Llewellyn, Owner and President of Llewellyn's Construction, is a native Texan and like most Texans, takes every opportunity to boast about how proud he is of his LONESTAR State and his Texas roots. With this Texas size pride, comes a great sense of community and an unparallel commitment to helping his fellow neighbor, especially in time of need. True to his Texan heritage, by 3:00 P.M. Saturday, the same day Hurricane Ike ravaged Houston and the surrounding areas, John and his crew were already maneuvering through the destruction, to offer aide wherever they could. Llewellyn's Constructions' 13+ years of operation, combined with countless years of experience, enabled all of us, the skills and knowhow to provide expert assistance to hundreds of homeowners residing in Montgomery, Harris, Grimes, Walker, Waller and San Jacinto Counties. Unfortunately, there were occasions when we had to clean up the additional damage caused by those who became Tree Removal Experts over night. Because Llewellyn's Construction owns and maintains its own fleet of heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers and dump trucks, more assistance was rendered immediately and continuously, throughout this horrific ordeal, to those who desperately need our services. However, finding fuel and Ice was an unexpected challenge that quickly reminded us all how lucky we are, as a society. Driving for 1 ½ hours each way for fuel and supplies was the scenario which played out for days. Dedication and a determination to conquer this beast called Ike, was what carried us through the endless days only to return each night to a dark home. Our immediate community went 21 days without utilities, including water, since most of our well pumps ran off electricity.

As a community, we eventually tamed Ike and our day to day routines returned back to normal. Fuel and ice are just a mile away and available 24/7. Candles are once again used for decoration and the constant humming of the generators has been replaced with the lonely cries of the coyotes howling at the moon. It's surprising how quickly we fall back into the same regime as if Ike was just a bad dream. But for us a Llewellyn's Construction, the lessons we learned and the experience we gained will only enable us to be that much better the next time a disaster decides to rear its ugly face.
