From design to construction, John and his crew will custom build a pond that exceeds your expectations, provides added value to your property and ultimately becomes a reflection of your personality.
"Failure to plan is a plan to fail."
Every pond must start with a good design. Initially, this may seem like a simple task. However, if even the slightest detail is not properly addressed, the end result could be a bird bath instead of a duck retreat. Like a jigsaw puzzle, each piece of the pond construction process offers a glimpse towards the potential promise of the completed project. In other words, every detail related to your pond is examined to maximize your property’s attributes and to proactively eliminate issues which could occur during construction.
Details to consider in pond design and construction:
topography of the property
soil test results
overall desired aesthetics
After carefully evaluating all the characteristics that will make your pond a one-of-a-kind reflection of your lifestyle, a strategy is developed, and actual pond construction begins. Throughout the pond construction phase, the progression of the pond is under constant scrutiny. Adjustments are made to ensure every cost-saving measure has been taken and every attribute maximized, while remaining focused on the desired outcome.
Llewellyn’s Construction knows how to fine tune a project to get the biggest return on investment without compromising the WOW factor. We understand the commitment we make to our customers when we agree to produce a residential or commercial pond that will fulfill their expectations. We also take pride in our ability to deliver a product that far exceeds expectations.
In the end, Llewellyn’s Construction will create a uniquely personalized water oasis that is beautiful, functional and withstands the test of time. Be prepared to be WOWED!
No matter how basic the pond design, it is impossible for any two ponds to be exactly alike. However, the fundamental steps in the pond construction process are relatively similar. As an informative guide, the standard steps involved in constructing a pond are outlined below.
Flag off the outside perimeters of the pond and make any changes necessary to ensure that all specifications have been properly addressed.
Scrape off the layer of topsoil located inside the pond area and push it into piles for re-use during the final landscaping phase of the project.
Cut out a defined edge around the outer boundaries of the pond using an excavator.
Layer by layer, the excess soil is cut out of the ground and then pushed into large piles.
An excavator scoops up the excess dirt and places it into dump trucks for removal or relocation on the property.
Using a huge metal bucket with teeth attachments, the excavators sculpts out the interior design of the pond to the desired depths and dimensions.
The details that make each pond unique start to take shape.
Section by section, the walls of the pond are sloped and the bottom groomed in preparation for the final steps in the construction process.
Measurements are taken to ensure a level elevation across the entire top edge of the pond.
An overflow drainage system is installed and a layer of hard clay is used to line the pond and prevent water leakage from occurring.
Observe how manicured the pond's surface looks once the clay lining has been installed and the final grade completed.
The only thing left to do to this pond is add water.
Imagine waking up every morning to a cup of coffee and this as your backyard view.
Saving money is always a major priority with everyone but especially for those planning (paying) for a construction project. Llewellyn’s Construction Inc. is no different, but we understand the importance of taking this concept one step further. One of our main objectives, throughout the construction process, is to save our customers money while maintaining our high standard of excellence.
One way for us to maximize this objective is to incorporate the construction of a house pad into the excavation phase of constructing a pond. When both projects can be constructed at the same time, our customers can realize a substantial monetary savings as well as the benefit associated with gaining equity in the total value of their property. Actually, the savings goes beyond this. There is a real value associated with recycling the clay material that is extracted from the pond site and redistributing it on the owners’ property as a pad site. (Please note that the clay must meet specific requirements before it can be used in constructing a house pad. Fortunately, there are several different layers of materials, the deeper a pond is dug, which can be used or mixed together to meet these specifications.) By re-using the clay, we are able to conserve the amount of fuel normally required to haul off the excess soils as well as eliminate the need for a disposal or dumping site and the fees associated with these facilities.
